This Book Initially Fools You, Until Realizing It's You in The Book
You think you're reading a book of poetry about early addiction recovery, as you start to read something amazing begins to happen. It sneaks up on you without making a sound, when all of sudden you are struck smack in the face with the realization the different poems are speaking directly to you. This is no normal book of poetry, which I will be the first to admit, poetry in any form is not my thing, mainly because I don't "get it." Well folks, I can attest before you right now, while reading this book, "I Get It!" I was amazed in reading many of these wonderful, heartfelt poems, applicable to life's experiences, the author was speaking directly to me.
Richard Adair has faced more severe challenges of personal family loss and alcoholic addiction than any 10 people one might meet on the street. Through it all he discovered his purpose, took responsibility for his life, made some very hard decisions and is making wonderful positive progress with his life. As a direct result of these actions, this book was born allowing so many to discover, rediscover or recognize they are not the only ones with these severe problems in the world. Although this book 'appears' to be directed to those with an addiction, wishing to go into or are in early recovery, do not let that fool you. This is a book everyone will benefit from reading, leading to additional discoveries of perspectives totally unexpected, leading to insights of guidance to further their own personal journey. To label this book as "inspirational" and "motivational" is a great understatement as to the power of personal revelation found within these simple poems.
Without exception, I highly recommend this book for your own personal library or as a fantastic gift to someone who will benefit by deriving value from their own reading experience. A serious warning, however! This is not a book read once and placed on the shelf. Oh no my friends. This book has that unique quality of being read several times and each experience realizing something new being revealed. Why? Because at that particular time of the second, third or fourth reading, you are in a different place on your personal journey.
In closing, purchase your copy of this book, put some quality classical music on the CD player, grab a good glass of wine, sit, relax and be prepared to learn more about 'you' than even you thought you knew. This will truly be an experience of wonderful revelation.

Poems In Early Recovery is a glimpse of the light that Richard Adair has broken through for himself from the depths of his darkness in the form of his addictions. He bears his inner soul by sharing his life's tragedies; taking us with him on his journey, giving us a birds eye view to his rising and to the inner peace he has found. His poems are simple in text but the echo of meaning plunges deep. One of my favorites (and it changes often) is "In the Moment." It's a song of joy and of hope and it fills me with a sense of lightness when my burdens seem too heavy or too much to bear. Take this book, open the pages and be prepared for your soul to sing. 'So sing out loud from deep within, The heart is vast and pure. It's not encumbered with mind filled thought, It beats so strong and sure'

Although Craig has taken the words from my heart (not really, I don't come across that well) I highly recommend this book for everyone. The simple words that strike you with feelings you might not think are possible with this book, believe me, they will. There is something for everyone and is an easy read. I agree with Craig, sit down, put on a relaxing CD, grab a glass of wine (or in some cases, beer) and enjoy the words and feelings as they come alive. You will love it!

"It is said that a soul chooses it time & circumstance in order to learn, teach and grow. It is also said a soul chooses it's time of departure when those goals are met. I'd say Richard Aaron couldn't have chosen a better place or person to teach, learn and grow. The evidence shows he
found a wealth and abundance of all those things based on his choice. Indeed, thanks are in order."

"I was trying to find the words to express what Poems in Early Recovery means to me, and then I went to church this morning. To paraphrase my pastor, in John 5, Jesus asks the man if he wants to get well & after he cures him, tells him to “Take up your mat and walk”. Our mat is our story, our story designed to give hope to others in need of recovery. The 12th Step tells us to carry the message. God doesn’t waste a hurt, and Rick has shared his deepest shame, guilt, pain to help others on this road to recovery, and in that way helps himself as well. I can open any page of his book & relate in some way to each poem. I bet you can too."
